L’OSTEOPTIA E LA CURA DEI TRAUMI MAXILLOFACCIALI.

Forse vi stupirà sapere che l’Osteopatia può essere di fondamentale importanza per il recupero della forma e della funzione, quando queste sono compromesse a seguito di traumi maxillo-facciali; io ne sono la prova… perché da brava paziente mi sono consegnata nelle sapienti mani di un collega, che mi ha restituita al resto del mondo più forte di prima.

Questa è la mia storia: nel dicembre del 2012, in vacanza a Londra, sono investita da uno scooter mentre attraverso la strada; riporto traumi e fratture multiple, soprattutto al viso, cui segue in loco un primo intervento chirurgico di stabilizzazione (che si rivelerà purtroppo un vero disastro).
A Roma, il chirurgo maxillo facciale che mi prende in cura (in sala operatoria) si incarica con grande perizia di sanare e salvare il salvabile, ovvero la frattura dello zigomo sinistro, del naso, del condilo mandibolare destro, dell’arco mascellare e quattro denti; residuerà una paresi postoperatoria del nervo faciale di destra.
Detta così non sembrerebbe esserci spazio per l’ottimismo, in effetti ero ridotta veramente malino! Ma…

➡️ Dopo la chirurgia c’è l’Osteopatia

A distanza di circa tre, quattro mesi dal secondo intervento inizio le cure con un collega, osteopata: mi metto tranquilla nelle sue mani, so che ci vuole tempo, so che il mio corpo collaborerà alla guarigione, so che Marco fa il suo lavoro con dedizione e grande capacità.

➡️ E quindi?? Quindi è andato tutto bene!

Abbiamo lavorato sodo, mese dopo mese ho provato sulla mia pelle la forza dell’osteopatia, che ha restituito la forma cioè il “mio” viso, ed anche la funzione:
– le manipolazioni craniali e maxillo-facciali hanno ottenuto il recupero quasi completo del nervo faciale, ovvero il mio occhio destro si chiude normalmente e il sorriso è nuovamente simmetrico grazie alla ripresa dei muscoli mimici di destra;
– anche la sensibilità tattile del viso è migliorata, residuando una leggera parestesia secondaria al danno neurale periferico;
– non ho sofferto di mal di testa né di diplopia (visione doppia) come sequela del trauma cranico, spesso frequenti;
– non ho avuto complicanze dell’articolazione temporo-mandibolare (ATM), ovvero non residuano dolore e difficoltà all’apertura e chiusura della bocca, scrosci e rumori articolari durante i movimenti della mandibola, difficoltà di masticazione;
– è stato inoltre facilitato ed avvantaggiato il lungo lavoro dell’ortodonzia (l’apparecchio!) attraverso il riequilibrio fasciale di tutto il sistema maxillo-facciale e delle ossa craniche.

Questa è la mia storia, è la prova che ciò che ho studiato e a cui mi dedico con il mio lavoro funziona davvero;
è la conferma che ogni occasione di cura può essere il terreno e il luogo di una rinascita ben più grande.
