MALAOCCLUSIONE DENTALE & OSTEOPATIA

La “macchina perfetta” del nostro corpo prevede che arcata dentale superiore e inferiore siano allineate in modo più funzionale possibile per regalarci uno smagliante sorriso e una perfetta masticazione; quando questo delicato equilibrio non rispetta più dei parametri fisiologici si ha la cosiddetta “malocclusione”.
Tale disallineamento, può causare diversi problemi, dalla difficoltà di masticazione o nel parlare, alle patologie muscolari e scheletriche.
La malocclusione può dipendere da:
motivi genetici o più in generale alterazioni durante lo sviluppo del bambino,
alterazioni anatomiche dei condili dovuti per esempio ad artrosi o perdita di denti avvenuta precocemente,
traumi,
atteggiamenti scorretti che riguardano altre attività fisiologiche ma che interessano anche la bocca come per esempio la respirazione.
L’osteopatia può prendersi cura dell’Articolazione Temporo-Mandibolare, aiutando, attraverso le manipolazioni, il rilassamento dei muscoli masticatori e di tutte le strutture deputate alla masticazione.
Inoltre, trattando la zona cervicale e del cranio, si possono ottenere dei miglioramenti anche sulla funzione occlusale.
Il lavoro dell’osteopata avviene di concerto con l’odontoiatra, in genere lo gnatologo e altre figure.
